Simon Pearce on the Brandywine closing

The restaurant and glassblowing workshop are done. The retail shop's last day will be Feb. 13.

Simon Pearce, a nifty gift shop outside of West Chester combining a glassblowing operation and a restaurant by the banks of the Brandywine, announced this morning that it's closing after 10 years.

Sixty-five people are employed there.

The restaurant and glassblowing are done. The retail store's last day will be Feb. 13.

The Vermont company's Ross Evans told me that "seconds" at the store will be 30 percent off, and that sales made by calling the West Chester store will include free shipping.

Evans said Simon Pearce is coming off a strong couple of months but wants to focus on its core business.
