Shane Victorino, peacemaker

Fightin' Phils? Not this time.

Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino helped defuse a potentially nasty situation outside of the Rittenhouse Square bistro Rouge Thursday night.

A bystander who asked for anonymity said two groups of patrons -- regulars and some folks unfamiliar to Rouge staff -- were exchanging nasty words inside the restaurant, near a table occupied by Victorino and a group of his friends.

Victorino, who's listed as 5-foot-9, noticed tempers growing more frayed as they all stepped outside. He joined the combatants on the sidewalk, telling them to knock it off.

I hope he had his group of friends outside with him. The phillies need him in the lineup for the WORLD SERIES. !!!!!

can he tackle? perhaps an appearance in place of Asante' on running downs would be useful this Sunday as a warm-up to his Phillies obligations

I agree that this is a stupid move.... every time some sports guy gets in trouble, it wasn't his gun or his fault, he was just trying to be peacemaker and the gun went off. Shane can expect a lawsuit as well.

Obama gets a Nobel Peace prize for fighting 2 wars and Shane only gets a blurb in Insider for his act of heroism? The only thing braver than breaking up a fight between angry yuppies at Rouge would be intervening in a parking dispute at Whole Foods.

Ruffians at Rouge? What are they gonna do, Rumba one another? Have a pilates-off, winner stays?

It's so easy to root for these guys, so opposite of what you hear of most teams. I just hope some whacko doesn't try to prove his toughness and hurt him. Shane's also the guy that went into harm's way to help a groundskeeper in Colorado, so this is no surprise.

    Shane's also
