Shakeup at Q102

Word of layoffs at the cluster is trickling in.

Q102 just announced one hiring, at the expense of several layoffs.

The station picked up a new program director, afternoon DJ and director of digital content in one paycheck. And "rock star," as the belt buckle in the accompanying photo points out.

He's Tim Herbster, who was known as “Romeo" on Z100 in New York, which he left last year after six years. Most recently, he was vice president of global programming and marketing at a Web service called Goom Radio.

As program director, he replaces Tracy Austin. As afternooner, he replaces Joey Brooks, who quit last month to head north to Toronto. The digital-content job? He's also replacing Jim Bullotta, who was laid off today. Also laid off was marketing/promotions director Lisa Acchione, who has been with the stations for at least a decade.
