Get your own beer at the Wells Fargo Center and Linc

It's billed as a time-saver.

Self-service beer-vending machines, which have been making their way into busy beer bars and arenas, have arrived this season at the Wells Fargo Center, and at some events at Lincoln Financial Field.

Aramark is touting the idea as a time-saver for those who want to dodge lines.

Then again, there's a lack of human contact.

At the Linc, DraftServ - as it's called - is on the 100 level on the southeast side.

At the Wells Fargo, it's set up at Section 107 along the back wall of PJ Whelihan's, the new machines allow patrons to get their own beer of up to 32 ounces. You enter through Whelihan's front area to buy a $20 card from cashiers who check IDs. They're merely looking at the buyers' ages - not trying to point out people from New Jersey who might be unaccustomed to working a self-service pump.

The cards are good all season, and patrons can buy a full beer or portion thereof. After 32 ounces are dispensed on one card, the machine shuts down for a short time. That's one way to discourage growler filling.

Each machine at the Wells Fargo Center offers four choices - all Anheuser-Busch products along the lines of Goose Island (64 cents an ounce, or $10.25 a pint, because it's considered premium) and Bud Lite (49 cents, or $7.85 a pint).

The DraftServ prices are the same as the draft prices elsewhere at the center.
