A sad, empty storefront now greets ice cream seekers at Scoop DeVille's location at 1734 Chestnut St.

But Scoop DeVille lives on.

Come May 24, if all goes to plan, Scoop DeVille will be reopen at 1315 Walnut St..

Spencer Philips, 27, who was a longtime customer, bought into the brand.

He and girlfriend Julia Steele - partnered with Scoop owner Matthew Shore - will sell the same products - Bassetts ice cream and mix-ins - and have the former employees.

Meanwhile, Shore and wife Sarah are building a breakfast/lunch spot called Sophie's Cafe at 163 E. Lancaster Ave. in downtown Wayne, where Cream & Sugar was.

It also will serve Scoop DeVille-branded ice cream when it opens next month.
