Scarduzio's East Passyunk project is a go

Table 31/Mia's/Scarduzio's chef-owner Chris Scarduzio and partners Stephen and Tamar Olitsky have gotten the city's go-ahead to proceed with their bistro at 1646-1648 S. 12th St. - the corner of 12th and Morris Streets.

The next step will be the demolition of the building that was home to apartments and the recently relocated Artisan Boulanger Patissier.

And that won't be easy or imminent. Since the deadly building collapse at 22d and Market Streets, the city has tightened up on demo work, as Scarduzio pointed out.

Even so, Scarduzio says "spring 2014" for the restaurant's opening.

Designer is Center City's Pomegranate LLC, which also happens to be designing Avance, the successor to Le Bec Fin at 1523 Walnut St. Scarduzio is working on that project, too.
