Sang Kee to Newtown Square

Michael Chow is venturing even farther from his Chinatown home base for a fifth Sang Kee, the duck destination he founded 30 years ago on Ninth Street.

Chow is planning for an early August opening of Sang Kee Noodle Bowl at 4755 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. He is consulting for owners Win and Sutida Somboonsong. Menu is here. (DOC)

The couple recently closed Parker's Prime, which two years ago replaced Roux 3.

The Somboonsongs' collection started in 1992 with what is now Mikado Thai Pepper and includes Teikoku, Flavor, and locations of Azie (Media and Villanova).

Besides Ninth Street in Chinatown, Chow has Sang Kee locations in the Sheraton University City, Wynnewood, and a stand in Reading Terminal Market.

(Post corrected.)

Bobby's Seafood was replaced by Teikoku, which is still there on West Chester Pike (west of Providence Road). Years ago, the site that was Roux 3 and Parkers Prime was an empty field before being developed into a shopping center.
