Rx reopening as Rimedio

Rx at 45th and Spruce Streets in West Philly, which closed over the winter in a still-unexplained management shakeup, is coming back. Soft opening will be Friday (3/23).

Saturday (3/24) will be the first brunch service, followed by dinner.

Keeping to the former use of the property as a pharmacy, the BYO will be called Rimedio.

That's Italian for "remedy," and it so happens to that Dan Freeman, a former sous chef at Old City's Bistro 7, will cook Northern Italian bistro cuisine.

Freeman is a Restaurant School grad who helped open the late, great L'Oca in Fairmount. He later learned kitchen management and advanced cookery at Vesta Dipping Grill in Denver before making his way back to Philadelphia.

At Rx, Freeman repainted the interior and added local artists' work.

It will be open Tuesdays through Sundays for dinner, and weekend brunch.
