Restaurant notes: New S.W. tequila bar in Rittenhouse and a Conshy boom

Wonder no more about the former Pearl at 1904 Chestnut St.

This will answer the question about the new occupant of 1904 Chestnut St., which was a Little Pete's location before it got spiffed up as Pearl and then spent about four minutes as Akoya before it closed last year. By later this year, the operation will be Kokopelli under entrepreneur Adam Solomon, along with partners Richard Brenner and Kenny Yeretzian. The menu will feature American Southwestern tapas and a tequila bar. As Kokopelli is the name of a fertility god in the Southwest, I strongly advise using caution at the bar and thereafter.

From Kevin Tierney at the Conshohocken-centric site MoreThanTheCurve.com comes word of one new and a few forthcoming restos in the old mill town by the Schuylkill:

  1. Maloney's Pub has set up at the Old Mansion House at 641 Old Elm St., a branch of the Maloney brothers' original location in Bryn Mawr.

  2. 8 East, a new-American restaurant-bar under construction for eons, is aiming for the last week of September at 8 E. First Ave.,  next to Spamps and Spampinato's.

  3. Isabella, a Mediterranean with pizza, is looking at late September at 382 E. Elm St. Chef Michael Cappon's past includes Marathon and El Vez.

  4. El Limon Taqueria, a budget Mexican, is poised to open soon at 103 Fayette St.

  5. And for good measure, there's a Five Guys Burger & Fries coming to the Plymouth Square Shopping Center at the corner of Butler and Ridge.
