Restaurant notes: Long-lost restaurant projects

Two South Philly restaurants are (I really think) in the homestretch.

Restaurant notes: Long-lost restaurant projects

In certain circles, you can elicit a chuckle by mentioning "943" and "Sticks & Stones."

The two restaurants -- 943 is an Argentinean-Italian BYOB at 943 S. Ninth St. and Sticks & Stones is a bar-restaurant at 1909 E. Passyunk Ave. -- have been in development for two years.

But based on earnest chats with the owners, their completions are in sight.

At 943, Pat Cancelliere got an infusion of cash from an investor a couple of months ago, and he left the kitchen at M Restaurant to work on getting the place open. He now says: "Two weeks, restaurant time."

Just as optimistic is Nick Miglino, who actually pokes fun at himself for the slow pace of Sticks & Stones. He told me he's hoping to open in early fall.

THe most chuckle-inducing down here is the DiBruno Bros restaurant that's been in the works for two summers now!
