Restaurant notes: Khyber turning Japanese; chef for Starr's pub

The Old City landmark will become an izakaya, and the Rittenhouse pub lands an English chef.

  1. The Khyber will be coming back at the end of September as an izakaya (as in, a Japanese bar). No music. Chef will be Todd Dae Kulper, who won great notices at the opening of Ro-Zu at Seventh and Bainbridge Streets. Here's a draft menu.

  2. Stephen Starr has hired Englishman Robert Aikens as exec chef of his unnamed pub at 18th and Sansom Streets.
