Lots of restaurants opening in November

Good golly, have we been in the midst of a restaurant-opening boom.

Of course, the fourth quarter is when everyone targets an opening - to snag the bucks from office parties, homecoming visitors, and the general extra entertaining that surrounds the holidays.

Let me review what's opening this month.

But first, an update on what is not opening this month.  Avance, the Justin Bogle joint at 1523 Walnut St., is December. The Mainland Inn in Montgomery County, which was supposed to be restored and reopened by now,  now is targeted to February. Also, the Zavino branch and the Zama offshoot coZara probably will open in late December or early January at Chestnut Square on Drexel's campus. And we Ambler-area residents will probably chuckle, but Andy's Diner - which has been under construction seemingly forever on Bethlehem Pike in Spring House - is supposed to open "before the holidays," said owner Andy Kamaratos. "As in the 2013 holidays?" "Yes."

Some opening dates are hard to pin down; I have included them when available and have listed these restaurants roughly in the order they may open.

Wishbone (Nov. 4): The Penn chicken shop is in extremely soft (but crunchy) opening mode right now.

Laurel (Nov. 5): Current Top Chef contestant Nicholas Elmi's East Passyunk BYOB.

Wokworks: A chef-driven stir-fry concept at 1935 Chestnut St.

Cook and Shaker (Nov. 7): Longtime chef revamps a Kensington bar.

Barren Hill Tavern (Nov. 7): The Devil's Den and Old Eagle Inn folks have spruced up the General Lafayette Inn in Lafayette Hill.

Brittingham's (Nov. 7): New owners have rebuilt this Lafayette Hill landmark.

Tria Taproom: Tria gets a wine room at 2005 Walnut St. - without wine bottles. Yes, all wines are on tap.

The Good King Tavern: French-rooted bar-restaurant right off Seventh and South Streets.

Tela's Market & Kitchen: Chef Chad Williams opens a market/restaurant at 19th Street and Fairmount Avenue; impress your friends and pronounce the name "TEE-la." It's the name of developer/owner Dan Greenberg's beagle.

Osteria (Nov. 18): Marc Vetri and crew open in Moorestown Mall.

Le Cheri: Bibou's Pierre and Charlotte Calmels' bistro at the Art Alliance on Rittenhouse Square.

Farm & Fisherman Tavern & Market: The Washington Square West BYOB goes big-time in Cherry Hill.

The Fat Ham: Kevin Sbraga's ode to modern Southern dining, at 3131 Walnut St.
