Restaurant notes: Swiderski out of Serafina project

The Buddakan veteran says he has other fish to fry.

With about three weeks before its opening, Serafina is looking for an executive chef.

Scott Swiderski, who was the exec chef at Philly's Buddakan for a dozen years until last summer, has left the project, both he and the Serafina confirm, adding that the split is amicable.

Stated reason: Swiderski has something else cooking.

Swiderski helped set up and briefly ran the kitchen at The Corner at 13th and Drury Streets in Washington Square West before Serafina hired him. He had been getting up to speed in the kitchen at a Serafina in New York City.

Serafina -- a big, lively Italian concept operated by Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato -- is penciled in for a May 24 opening at 10 Rittenhouse, across 18th and Sansom Streets from The Dandelion. From the big fling-out windows, finishing work can be seen going on.
