Avril in Bala Cynwyd has closed after two years, a decision that owner April Lisante equated to "giving up a child."

"Tough out there," said her husband, chef Christian Gatti. "We met some welcome people, and had some wonderful memories."

It was the solo restaurant debut for Gatti, a chef formerly at City Tavern, White Dog Cafe, and Audrey Claire, and Lisante, a former food writer at the Philadelphia Daily News. He's working at a bakery now.

A seafood restaurant with a South Philly pedigree is coming to the Bala Avenue space.

Why do the people out on the Min Line even own kitchens? There are places up and down Lancaster Ave.They will go to the lasted and greatest as soon as some gives it a wink or a star. What do you get for all the money you spend? You get poor service serving their egos on a plate.I will keep my money in my pocket and either eat at home or go to a real restaurant in Center City!
