Rent a historic bar

POSTED: Monday, November 26, 2012, 11:46 AM

The Artful Dodger - located at 400 S. Second St. in a historic building across from the Head House Square shambles in Society Hill - is on the market, says the building's owner, Mary Beth Gallo.

This site supposedly was the Head House Bar back in 1771. It has been known as the Artful Dodger, under assorted operators, since 1990.

Gallo says the restaurant portion offers table seating for 34. The bar seats 12 to 18, and features a barback bar and full line of under bar equipment.

Previous rent was $5,500 a month, she said. Any occupant would need a liquor license, which can be purchased from the previous operator.

Gallo's email is here.

I wonder how much of finder's fee the Inquirer gets for this? Or does the new owner merely have to take a 16 week subscription?
