Pizza Brain coming together
In Fishtown, a slice of Americana.
The finishing touches are being applied to Pizza Brain - the combo pizza museum and pizzeria that shares space with new Little Baby's Ice Cream shop at 2313 Frankford Ave. in Fishtown.
Friday, Sept. 7 is the grand opening, to which 850 people have sent an RSVP, says founder Brian "Brain" Dwyer.
Guinness has certified Dwyer's collection of pizza ephemera as the largest on earth. The shop's walls are full of photos, posters and records. Old-fashioned TVs play pizza-related movies and TV. And the pizza served will be none of that artisan, wood-fired Neapolitan stuff that's in vogue.
It will be old-fashioned, pizza parlor-style pie made unapologetically in gas-fed ovens.
