Jennifer Cross (left) in a screen-grab from the trailer.

It's called Worst Cooks in America, and the Food Network has the competition series up for a Jan. 3 premiere.

Philly waitress Jenny Cross is among the 12 competitors.

The blurb: Chefs Anne Burrell and Beau MacMillan each have a team of six hopeless home cooks and try to transform them from "kitchen zeros into kitchen heroes" in only 10 days.

To add to the fun, Burrell and MacMillan chose the members of each other's teams.

The two who make it to the end will face the final challenge: prepare a three-course meal for a panel of food critics, including the ubiquitous Jeffrey Steingarten, who think they are tasting dishes prepared by their chef-instructors.

On the line are the chefs' professional reputations and $25,000 for the recruits.

Here's a link to the trailer.

I don't think something that's been around pretty much since the dawn of time qualifies as a "fad".

If it's mainstream, it's not a fad.

All I know is that is a pretty young woman...who'd look a lot better IMO without her bicep tatooed like Popeye the Sailor.
