Pat Croce buys more bars

POSTED: Friday, December 21, 2012, 2:41 PM
Pat Croce outside of Rum Barrel in Key West, Fla., on Dec. 21, 2012.

Why Pat Croce is feeling great today - playing off the title of one of the Philly entrepreneur's self-help books:

He has bought his fifth and sixth bars in his adopted town of Key West, Fla.

Croce, who in a former life ran the 76ers, founded Rum Barrel in 2006, shortly after opening Pirate Soul - the pirate museum. (He later moved Pirate Soul to St. Augustine, Fla.) Then came Island Dogs, Green Parrot, and Charlie Mac's.

In his latest move, on Dec. 20, he acquired Turtle Kraals and Half Shell Raw Bar, two mainstays in the Conch Republic.

Typical Croce: He says he'll replace the outdoor stage at Turtle Kraals with bocce courts.

Pat -> you didn't build-that. And you're energy enthusiasm brains initiative and perseverance - those traits don't matter.... Uncle Sam has been your silent partner every step of the way. Your success is to be credited partially with the GOVERNMENT. You couldn't have succeeded without the GOVERNMENT every big and little step you have ever taken. Plus the roads and traffic lights all there just for you Pat.

If you don't think this is a big deal, just ask Pat.

Looking forward to visiting all these places in June! Hope he doesn't make a any sweeping changes. The Parrot should stay as is.
