How about another spot for Paesano's -- Peter McAndrews' much-lauded sandwich shop at 152 W. Girard Ave. in Northern Liberties, across from his Italian BYO Modo Mio.

McAndrews says he just struck a deal for the Italian Market:

The former Butcher's Cafe on the northwest corner of Ninth and Christian.

He told me that he is shooting for Nov. 1.

Is he worried about siphoning off business from Second and Girard? "No way. I'm too busy here," he said.

Among the creations he's planning for South Philly is a tripe sandwich topped with egg, as well as the "Paesano burger": A slab of 80/20 ground sirloin topped with fries, aged balsamic vinegar, garlic mayo, pancetta and gorgonzola dolce. He used to whip 'em up before service at Rembrandt's, where he and his sous chef would split them.
