Paesano's in expansion mode

Peter McAndrews' sandwich concept is new in Margate and will roll out branches at a Center City bar and at Lincoln Financial Field.

Peter McAndrews has seen the future, and it appears to be stuffed on a roll.

The chef - who's behind Monsu, Modo Mio, and La Porta and runs the kitchen at Bridgid's - says that he's putting more emphasis these days into his Paesano's sandwich concept.

Paesano's grew out of a hole in the wall on Girard Avenue, across from Modo Mio, and expanded to a larger space at Ninth and Christian Streets in South Philly. McAndrews also recently set up a seasonal operation in the back of Memories in Margate.

Now, McAndrews tells me that he'll be providing food starting July 4 weekend at Woody's (202 S. 13th St.). one of the busiest bars in the city, and that he has a deal to open a Paesano's stand at Lincoln Financial Field.

BTW: McAndrews says he has shut down Popolino, his Northern Liberties BYOB, for the summer. He'll do only private events there till fall.
