A very relieved Louise Esposito reports that Chef Vola's - the storied Atlantic City Italian restaurant on a beach block (yeah, the one with the unlisted phone number) - escaped Hurricane Sandy with no damage.

"Not a drop of water," Esposito told me. (Caller ID read "609-345-2022," by the way.) She and family members duct-taped and sandbagged. Perishables stayed fresh because they have a generator, she said. Chef Vola's was open Friday night.

The casinos, meanwhile, are ramping up their return, as well.
