New job for Kerri-Lee Halkett

The Fox29 exile is bound for New England.

Fox29 alumna Kerri-Lee Halkett has landed on her feet.

She's been signed as a reporter/anchor at WVIT in West Hartford, Conn., aka NBC Connecticut, as the station's news director, Mike St. Peter, told me this morning.

Start date is Dec. 13, he said, adding that Halkett will be fill-in anchoring at the outset to cover for holiday vacationers.

Halkett and her husband, lawyer Kirt Mayland, have a vacation home in the area. The family lives in Philly, where her 5-year-old son, Van, is enrolled in school. (Update: She will be known as Kerri-Lee Mayland at her new job.)

Halkett, who won the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Emmy for best anchor, joins other former Fox29ers in moving north: Dorothy Krysiuk is doing traffic in Boston, Jamie Shupak is doing traffic in New York, Dawn Stensland is living in Chestnut Hill, and Sharon Crowley is reporting in New York, though she still lives in Philly, her beau's home base.

Halkett had been on leave since her last broadcast Sept. 8.
