New job for Kerri-Lee Halkett

Fox29 alumna Kerri-Lee Halkett has landed on her feet.

She's been signed as a reporter/anchor at WVIT in West Hartford, Conn., aka NBC Connecticut, as the station's news director, Mike St. Peter, told me this morning.

Start date is Dec. 13, he said, adding that Halkett will be fill-in anchoring at the outset to cover for holiday vacationers.

Halkett and her husband, lawyer Kirt Mayland, have a vacation home in the area. The family lives in Philly, where her 5-year-old son, Van, is enrolled in school. (Update: She will be known as Kerri-Lee Mayland at her new job.)

Halkett, who won the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Emmy for best anchor, joins other former Fox29ers in moving north: Dorothy Krysiuk is doing traffic in Boston, Jamie Shupak is doing traffic in New York, Dawn Stensland is living in Chestnut Hill, and Sharon Crowley is reporting in New York, though she still lives in Philly, her beau's home base.

Halkett had been on leave since her last broadcast Sept. 8.

Is Fox in he news business? It seems, that they have so-called reporters that provide more opinion on news than actual thorough facts. The facts that these"reporters" do provide, are delivered in such a one-sided and deliberate fashion that William Randolph Hearst himself would be shaking his head (if he were with us today). Most intelligent viewers have seen through their agendas and no longer watch the programming which Ch.29 provides during their designated news slots. Good Luck to KLH she not only leaves Fx-29, but she moves onto NBC for a legitimate shot at a career in the news business.

Independent bias-rating sevices have rated NBC as the most biased (left of course) news organizations in the business while Fox news comes out the most balanced. I guess liberals can't stand hearing from folks they don't agree with; slugo.

Slugo is correct. The anchors on Fox 29 News are a joke. Other than Keeley, none seems to have an ounce of talent. What is most shocking is that a Fox affiliate could be so poor. Fox News is clearly the #1 News source far and away (look at the numbers). If Fox Philly would try to model itsel on its own parent network instead of the State Run media outlets of NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN, they would do themselves well.

I hope David Brayton leaves Fox soon, he is one reason we try to watch Myphil at 10, not Fox.

slugo is clueless. while foxnews may be biased, fox 29 is easily the best local news show with in depth reporting about local affairs. those other shows beamed down from ny that feign local should take note. perhaps slugo should give it anotehr chance, unless maybe he's still upset jeff cole exposed latrice bryant (who is now running for council).

Slugo is right you turn on the morning news and all there is talk lindsey lohan's current rehab project or the latest holloywood gossip. tmz has less gossip then fox 29 news. alsdkjk slugo was talking about the local fox news not the national fox news.

alsdkjk...nice try my friend, but you must be kiddin'. What independent bias-rating service are you referring to, Dick Cheyney? Take it from a true independent who refused to vote for Sestak, voted for Corbett and refuses to watch the slop presented as "news" on MSNBC....Fox News is anything but balanced. Each entertainer on Fox is about self promotion and how many books they can sell to the paranoid followers.

What independent bias service has said that Fox News is fair & balanced? Just like Fox News, you are just making things up. Fox News evens admits they are not fair and balanced. It is just an advertising slogan. So much for truth in advertising.

Fiona.. stalk Kerri Lee much? By "tools" do you mean night vision zoom goggles for the times you perch up in the tree outside of her bedroom to admire her amazing bone structure? Who cares about her? Steve Keeley is the allstar of that crew. He doesn't hold back and tells it like he sees it. Mrs. Amazing Hair/Body/Bone Structure just clucked clucked clucked all day like a robot- good luck in the sticks boring drone and take your stalker with you. :D

I'm happy for KLH and wish her good luck on her new job. She's good looking and does a good job. Class act all the way.

Every news network in the US presents a ridiculously biased view slanted to their viewer base. How naive it is for some to think their preferred choice delivers a non-biased view.
