New Vietnamese spot in Chinatown; a diner for Spring House

Vietnam House opens Sunday.

Chinatown's face has been changing of late, with Ramen Boy springing up on Ninth Street and Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle sliding a block west on Race Street. Next up: Vietnam House at the corner of Ninth and Race Streets, which owner Andy Tang  tells me will open Sunday, May 6.

Andy's, the 24-hour diner operation with locations in Conshohocken, Springfield (Delco), and Trevose, is taking the brave step of opening in the former Drafting Room on Bethlehem Pike in sleepy Spring House.

The Plaza Café at Table 31 outside the Comcast Center will open for the outdoor lunch and dinner season on Thursday, May 3. Nighttime party will include drink specials.

Weekend brunch starts Saturday, May 5 at SoWe at 22d and Carpenter Streets.

In Riva - Art Cavaliere's Italian under the Twin Bridges in East Falls - starts Tuesday-to-Friday lunch service on May 15.

If you have a one-track mind: The Station House (600 Station Ave. in Haddon Heights) will celebrate National Train Day on Saturday, May 12 with breakfast and lunch specials taken from the Original Pennsylvania Railroad Dining Car Recipe Book.

Two bar chains are expanding: The PJ Whelihan's in West Chester (replacing Bull Durham's at 137 Wilmington Pike) opens Tuesday, May 1, while Landmark Americana's Wayne/Devon spot (where the Paddock at Devon was at 629 W. Lancaster Ave.) opens Wednesday, May 2.
