The Freehouse at 110 N. Wayne Ave. in Wayne is closed.

But is it closed-closed? Hard to tell. Rumor has been circulating that a plumbing issue was keeping it down.

The business line ringsandringsandrings. The website points to domain holder GoDaddy. The cell phones of owners John Orr and Chris Metz go to voicemail.

Over the winter and into early spring, The Freehouse was known as Mims Food + Drink during its association with chef John Mims, whose former business partner sued him for working within 10 miles of his former eatery, Carmine's Creole Cafe. Mims is now in Phoenixville, ending that chapter.

Freehouse chef Brett Naylor was spotted working for Urban Outfitters' corporate office's kitchen at the Navy Yard.

Went by last night. Still closed, with no activity. Meanwhile, Christopher's is encroaching on their sidewalk space. So just how bad is the "plumbing problem" that keeps the doors closed this long?
