The coffee shop across from Eastern State Penitentiary is taking a new space a block and a half away.
Mugshots moving its Fairmount flagship

Mugshots, my coffee fave in Fairmount, is pulling out of its flagship location at 2100 Fairmount Ave. after nearly eight years over a dispute with the landlord, says owner Angela Vendetti.
Finale will be the end of March.
But: Mugshots will resurface a block and a half away, in a new building under construction at 1921-29 Fairmount Ave., she says. This building also will house a Latin restaurant called BlueCat.
Vendetti is pumped about the design of her new digs, whose date of occupancy is not known. The venue will feature a coffee bar with seating, as well as host musicians.
Fairmount has been hot of late, with openings including Lemon Hill and Hickory Lane. Also, Tim Spinner and Brian Sirhal's La Calaca Feliz will open Jan. 17-ish at 2321 Fairmount Ave.
They are actually moving out of Spring Garden and into Francisville. Earl J
Are they still going to give customers a hard time about using their debit/credit card and not hitting their "minimum"? hipster doofus' Uncle Sam
I live in Fairmount about a block away from MugShots and wont go there. Worst service I have ever had. Everything is over priced. And the coffee and food is forgettable. The place is not good. burbsboy
I love Mugshots especially the banana bread with chocolate chips. The only problem I've had is that sometimes there's no seats left. I hope the new place is a little bigger. lbwestphila- Like burbsboy, I live a block away and avoid Mugshots as well. I agree that the food is forgettable, and it is too crowded. But the clincher for me is the always-slow service. I much prefer Cafe L'Aube's coffee, food, and atmosphere. Tartan69
Agreed - sloowwwwwww "service" is an understatement. Food is marginal to okay. They're moving in the 'wrong' direction. But I definitely wish them much success. zen
Rybread on Fairmount between 23 & 24 has much better food. Sure they dont have an espresso machine but the drip coffee is very good. This is great for the area as businesses move down Fairmount. Maybe there is hope for all those empty decaying buildings on Fairmount towards Broad, especially the eyesore of them all... b_fairmount
L'Aube is definitely my favorite, but I agree with b_fairmount that is it a positive to see some commercial development creeping eastward towards Broad. spb
mugshots espresso is rarely made well dreinterests
