Mission: Mexican-inspired indoor beer garden on way to Rittenhouse

Upstairs from the Oyster House, 1516 Sansom St.

Here are details of one of the more secret Center City restaurant projects of late:

It's called Mission.

Sam Mink, who owns Oyster House, and chef Brett Naylor are saying "summer" for this spacious, Mexico City-inspired indoor beer garden and wood-fired grill above the restaurant, at 1516 Sansom St. (Nodding Head used to be up there.)

Mission will serve dinner as well as happy hour beginning at 5 p.m. and late-night crowds year-round rain or shine. Lunch and Sunday brunch will follow shortly after opening.

Oyster House general manager Daniel McLaughlin and chef Andrew Sabin - a Garces alumnus most recently at El Poquito in Chestnut Hill - will run the day-to-day.

During lunch hours, Mission plans to offer counter ordering for dine-in as well as takeout.

Picnic tables, banquettes, kitchen counter, bar stools, and dining room chairs will accommodate 160 people.

Meanwhile, summer is also the target for Harp & Crown, an American bar/restaurant directly across the street, from Michael Schulson and Nina Tinari (Double Knot).
