Mary Stoker Smith is let go

CBS3 has not renewed the contract of weekend evening anchor Mary Stoker Smith, and her final newscast was Sunday (8/16).

She joined the station in December, 2005.

She came to the station from WPHL-TV, where she was coanchor of WB17 News at Ten since April 2005.

Her bio said that before coming to Philadelphia, she was the main anchor and a reporter for WTVO-TV, the ABC station in Rockford, Ill., since 2001. Previously, she was the main anchor and reporter at WNDS-TV, an independent station in Derry, N.H.

CBS3, which did not say how her position would be filled, cited budget issues for her being let go.
