Mike Renda, a veteran Fox TV executive who landed at the helm of Fox29 about 2½ years ago, is on his way to Chicago to run Fox station WFLD and its "My" station WPWR.

The move surely will be a boon for Renda. His wife, Susan, is mayor of a town outside of Cleveland, his pre-Philly stop.

Fox29's new general manager is another Fox-type: Patrick Paolini, most recently VP and director of sales at New York's WNYW (Fox) and WWOR ("MY").

Under Renda, Fox made a bunch of changes, including the hiring of John Bolaris, the negotiation of a newsgathering partnership with NBC10 and the creation of a 6 p.m. newscast (starts Monday 9/7).

I'm still trying to understand why they fired Bill Vargus! The man won an emmy last year...and they fire him? Scratching my head at that...

They let some likable personalities go over the years. Dorothy Krysiuk, Rob Guarino, Dave Huddleston, and Bill Vargas. I swear all that station does anymore is hype their website. Now the morning show guys keep pimping out their facebook accounts

I'll bet ya actual money they dump Bolaris or at least bring back Guarino now that this Renda jerk is gone. I don't know how helpful any of Renda's changes were but Guarino is the reason their news operation ever got "on the map," so to speak. Bolaris is annoying, disliked, and costs more than the beloved--and accurate--Rob Guarino. Guarino will be back.
