Malcolm Poindexter passes away
Michael Klein, Philly.com
Malcolm Poindexter, one of the first KYW Newsradio reporters and later a fixture on Channel 3, died this morning, just a few days shy of his 85th birthday.
Mr. Poindexter, who started in the news business in 1947, had written for the Philadelphia Tribune, The Bulletin, Jet and Ebony magazine. He also was an early member of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists.
He had been in hospice care for some time, a family member said.
He started at Newsradio in 1965 and moved to Channel 3 in 1967. He left the station in 2001.
See bio here.
His wife, Ilse, a former librarian, told CBS3: “He was always a gentleman. He is and will always be my heart and my best friend.”
He also is survived by sons David and Malcolm III, daughter, Lynne and a stepdaughter, Kirsten.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

God bless you, Malcolm! Thanks for everything! cpepe- RIP Mr Poindexter.
I still perfectly recall his voice from 30 years ago....Good man, RIP Ticogringomike
Intelligent, first class manners and a genuine newscaster/reporter/writer. Today they worry about their hair and how they look. Next they give a thought to what they're 'reading'. It's much more important to be a celebrity than a reporter or journalist, which is a term unrelated to the talking heads we have now. RIP Malcolm you were respected and appreciated. stoneman
