Main Line landmark Savona closes for renovation

October will be 19 years for Savona, which replaced Tierra (and before that the Picket Post Inn), where Upper Gulph, South Gulph, and New Gulph Roads converge in Upper Merion Township.

Savona, the elegant restaurant/bar tucked into an 18th-century building in Gulph Mills, is closed through mid-September for what co-owner Evan Lambert calls a "refresh."

October will be 19 years for Savona, which replaced Tierra (and before that the Picket Post Inn), where Upper Gulph, South Gulph, and New Gulph Roads converge in Upper Merion Township.

The restaurant will be redone inside and out, from the landscaping and driveway into chef/co-owner Andrew Masciangelo's kitchen, which will get new equipment including a charcoal oven.

The menu also will get a tune-up, though such staples as brick chicken, salmon with white beans and escarole, and veal Milanese will remain.
