Mad River in Old City shuts down

The Manayunk location remains.

Mad River in Old City shuts down

Mad River, which opened eight years ago in the old Middle East restaurant on Chestnut Street near Second in Old City and developed all the charm of a frat party, is dark.

A note from management on its website steers clientele to its Manayunk location.

State records show it paid a $1,000 fine for serving visibly intoxicated persons last month; the case originated in April 2011.

Update: The spot is being reconfigured into a craft beer/seafood restaurant called Craft & Claw.
