Mica makes GQ's top 10 new restaurant list

Big kudos to Chip Roman, whose yearling Mica in Chestnut Hill appears at #8 in GQ magazine's list of the 10 best new restaurants in America.

The March issue is on newsstands now. Link is here.

Critic Alan Richman is not too keen on the atmosphere and goes so far as to say, "The wine list isn’t much."

But Roman, chef-owner of Blackfish in Conshy and partner in Ela in Queen Village, is back in the kitchen "creating complex dishes and doing it astoundingly well. Mica is about food."

For a sidebar, Roman recommends The Farm & Fisherman.

Also getting notice in the issue, as one of Richman's five best dishes of the year, is Naga Beef Sümi served at Tashan: "Sylva Senat uplifts and embellishes everything we love. Wagyu beef on skewers. Peppery soy dipping sauce. Cucumber-peanut relish. Onion rings. Irresistible," says Richman, a writer decades ago with the old Philadelphia Bulletin.
