Bistro on the way to Old City

Luna Cafe is positioned as rustic BYOB cafe-bistro focused on locally sourced American soups, salads and sandwiches.

Sarah Levine, a former bartender and now freshly minted MBA, is about to take the first-time-restaurant plunge.

She plans a Feb. 20 opening of Luna Cafe, which will replace Panini's at 317 Market St. in Old City.

Levine, who enjoys eating "clean, organic and local," has brought in chef Jordan Andino, whom she met while both worked at the Westin Hotel in Center City, to set up the kitchen and menu. He'll later yield the stove to a to-be-named chef.

Andino's name and/or face might ring a bell. Though 25, he's been on Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay.

Andino's most recent TV appearance had little to do with cooking. Last month on the reality series Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons, Andino was the Hamptons chef caught in bed with Kris Jenner, who is more than twice his age. In flagrante delicto? In no way. They were fully clothed. Jenner staged it for laughs.

Enough keeping up with the Kardashians for me:

Andino describes Luna as a rustic American BYOB serving soups, salads and sandwiches, plus dinner entrees.

Along with 40 seats, there will be a grab-and-go section and a laptop bar for coffee and lingering. They'll make fresh fruit mixers for those who BYO.

They hope to serve weekday business lunchers as well as dinner patrons in search of something easy and affordable.

It will be open for lunch and dinner weekdays, and for brunch and dinner on weekends.
