Which local TV newsroom soap opera has more drama?
NBC10 with Delgado and DeMentri
CBS3 with Lane and Mendte
Neither. I'm sick of the drama.

This post has been updated (5:45 p.m.):

NBC10 has confirmed the resignation of anchor Lori Delgado, who's been at the center of a bizarre series of events at the station this summer involving former anchor Vince DeMentri.

Delgado, a New Yorker whose husband is a New York lawyer, joined the station in January 2005.

Delgado, who turned 29 two weeks ago, was on a previously scheduled week of vacation last week.

NBC had been investigating alleged incidents at the station. In one, Delgado's personal property (a hair dryer, curling iron and handbag) was moved from her desk drawer to another spot under her desk. In another, a deep scratch was found on her Lexus, parked in the NBC10 lot in Bala Cynwyd. DeMentri, 44, had been questioned by NBC management. He was fired in August.

On Sept. 16, NBC10, Delgado and an NBC security official identified as Don were named in a praecipe filed by DeMentri attorney Paul Rosen in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court -- basically, a precursor to a lawsuit. The praecipe simply listed "libel, slander and misrepresentation" under the cause. No allegations were listed.

The station's news director, Chris Blackman, today issued this memo: "I wanted to let you let you know that Lori Delgado has resigned from NBC10 to spend more time with her family. We thank Lori for her contributions to the station and wish her well."

I can proudly say I know none of the names of Philly anchors or newsreaders today on the 3 main networks. Watch 57 when I get up for the weather and traffic. As long as the electric is working I have no need for what they call News.

I'll ignore the racial nonsense above. The TV stations here in Philly are amazing. They evidently do not screen or investigate the folks they hire. Perhaps the networks should invoke a psychiatric exam before hiring.

Is this for real? Moving a hair dryer and a few personal items? They were not stolen---next time lock the desk and get on with your life! The scratch on the car would upset me. Sounds like they had a fling and he was angry at its termination. boohoo. The people working at the television and radio stations have alot of growing up to do. That's what happens when you have a mindless job!

Perhaps we could consider hiring anchors and anchorettes based upon journalistic integrity rather than solely upon their looks.

For local news, either read the papers, or listen to KYW (for headlines only) or WHYY. There's absolutely no reason to watch local TV news except weather, traffic and sports, and you can get that off the internet anyway.

Good judgment must be used at all times and adverse behavior must not reflect poorly upon the company otherwise troublemaking individuals are summarily fired or asked to resign.

I got an idea! Lets get all the nutty news anchors that have been fired like Alycia Lane, Lori Delgado and all the rest and start a NEW local news show with all these wackjobs. It truly WOULD be must see TV. Any one of them could snap at any time! WOW!

Lori Delgado was adorable and worth getting up at 5am to watch. Philadelphia needs more charming hispanic newswomen like Lori Delgado and Alycia Lane - not fewer. This is a blow to Philadelphia's aspirations to be a world-class city like New York, Miami, Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

I know that stereotyping is frowned upon, but Lori seems too dorky to cheat on her husband. There. I said it. I'm sure I'll be reprimanded for profiling dorks. Are dorks considered a "protected group"?

Patrick M., as a second generation Dorkian American, I am offended by your stereotyping. However, I will not retaliate. As a Level 13 High Elf with Mage Abilities and a +3 Bully counter, I will not prattle in your little human mockery. EXCELSIOR! But seriously, Delgado is hot.

C'mon Channel 6...it's your turn. Give us a good scandal. Something with sex, drugs, and perhaps some of that hippity-hop music the kids are listening to these days.

I am all for a Latinaon Philly TV but I never thought she was that good and you could tell she was a New Yorker who didn't embrace the market. She once interviewed Boyz II Men and seemed like she didn't even know who they were. Come on. Met at HS for the Performing Arts? Internationally reknown? Motown Philly's back again? Weak.

I'm relieved that you had enough hit-points to survive that melee. Stay tuned for my press conference, when I will relay an equivocal yet sincere apology to dorks everywhere as written by my lawyer.

Metropolitan, Huh? Well since you and nowaynohownobama opened that can, allow me to chime in with a "male" point of view... What Philly really needs is more Hot News Women with nice cleavage who love to show it and "make love to the camera". Metropolitan, your views are "as fresh as a Foghat concert". Get over this race crap. No one else say anything but fun in this story.

I think if the gentlemen involved in these two incidents would keep their "fly's" up and the females would restrict their flirting to their husbands or significant others and JUST DO THEIR JOBS, we would all be better served than all this unending, silly, sophomoric nonsense.

This is proof positive that it is not a good idea to have an affair with a co-worker. If the realationship goes sour, there tends to always be someone who tries to be spite and cause problems from that day forward. Dating outside the work place is the best thing to do.

journalistic ethics
It's funny nowaynohownobama, you mention that the loss of Lori is a blow to the hispanics in this town. How about Vince and the Italians? Italian-Americans far outnumber Hispanics in the area and have for 100-years. Best I can figure, Vince was their only representative. (regardless of how you may feel about him) But that's okay, because it's acceptable in our society to disparage Italian-Americans. Bada-Bing! Hippocrits.

The morning team needs a shake-up The weather and traffic guys are a plus but Terry, God Bless him is a solid reporter in an ill fitting anchor desk role. Lori just didn't work out. They need a couple of fresh faces like moving Henley to anchor with LuAnn Cahn and Michelle Grossman as weather person. Either move the traffic guy, John Ogden to special reporter or keep him where he is.

with all due respect: that woman is dumb as a post. i could never believe the inane comments she made in response to a story or another newsperson's report. left me yelling at the tv. don't need that kind of shock to my senses first thing in the morn.

Frankly, I haven't missed Vince DeMentri and didn't even realize he had been gone from channel 10 until I read this article. On the other hand my husband and I do miss Lori Delgado. We both are avid NBC10 viewrs and big fans of Lori. She made the am news fun and I thiught she had a great repor w/ Terry Ruggles. They were like the Channel 10 comdey team....too bad she turned out to be a little wacky when if comes to her hair products!!!!

I know I'm a little late with this post but THANK GOD she's gone. Unbelievable how horrible she was! Lori's Lunchbox? Are you kidding me? And her cooking? How bad is NBC local news going to get? Your local news is going downhill fast! You have some good talent but continue to keep them in the background....and how about getting with the times and broadcasting in HD?

Lori DelGado was an indiot. She couldn't even do her inane "Lori's Lunch Spots" segement without acting like a complete air-head. Let her take her hair dryer and head out. NBC 10 needs a major house cleaning. .and stop dumbing down with some of these "anchors" who you try to pass along as serious journalists. .and that includes that Vince Dimentri. Please get rid of these B-level reporters.. . this is a major media market that consistently comes off as low-level.
