Lorenzo & Sons: Now serving in West Chester

The offshoot of the South Street pizzeria famed for its 28-inch pies and its appeal among late-night bar crawlers opened recently in the former home of Sprazzo at the corner of High and Gay Streets.

"Like peeling an onion" is how Giuseppe "Joe" Pulizzi describes the extensive work that went into fixing and then fitting out the West Chester building that now houses Lorenzo & Sons.

The offshoot of the South Street pizzeria famed for its 28-inch pies and its appeal among late-night bar crawlers opened recently in the former home of Sprazzo at the corner of High and Gay Streets (27 N. High St., 484-999-8756).

West Chester's menu is more expansive than the original. That is, this location sells steak sandwiches, fries, and personal (13-inch) pizzas. You also can get toppings on slices, which South Street generally frowns upon most days of the week.

The first floor has the counter and some seating. The second-floor dining room is lined with Pulizzi family photos.

Hours are in flux in the early going: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the late-nighters. (Menu goes to pizza and sodas only after 9:30 p.m.)
