Local brewers clean up at Great American Beer Festival

Seventeen beers from breweries stretching from Allentown and Hershey to Monmouth County, N.J., and Dover, Del., won medals over the weekend at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

Capturing a bronze in its first time was Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery from Lafayette HIll, whose Barren Hill Biere de Extra by brewer Scott Morrison previously won a bronze at the World Beer Cup. Brewery owner Erin Wallace called the win "more than we ever expected."

Allentown's Fegley's Brew Works won two - a gold for Arctic Alchemy and a silver for Berliner Weiss.

Iron Hill Media came up with two medals - a silver for Rye Of The Tiger and a bronze for Burton IPA.

Flying Fish from Somerdale won gold for HopFish and silver for RedFish.

Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce from Yards Brewing Co. won in the first-year category of Historical Beer)

Seven beers won gold:

Perkuno's Hammer from Earth Bread + Brewery in Mount Airy (Baltic-style Porter)

Arctic Alchemy from Fegley's Brew Works in Allentown (Old Ale or Strong Ale)

Grisette from Sly Fox Brewing Company in Pottstown (Belgian- and French-style Ale)

Troegenator from Tröegs Brewing Company in Hershey (Bock)

Golden Monkey from Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown (Belgian-style Tripel)

HopFish from Flying Fish Brewing Company in Somerdale (Classic English-Style Pale Ale)

A Night To End All Dawns from Kane Brewing Company, Ocean Township (Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout)

Five beers won silver:

Choc Lobster from Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Rehoboth Beach (Indigenous/Regional Beer)

Spiced Harvest from Old Dominion Brewing Company, Dover (Pumpkin Beer)

Rye Of The Tiger from Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Media (Rye Beer)

RedFish from Flying Fish Brewing Company in Somerdale (Extra Special Bitter)

Bedotter from Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Maple Shade (Belgian-style Tripel)

Five beers won bronze:
