Live from ... Chickie's & Pete's... It's "SNL"

Golden wheat (left) and Bud Light in a storyboard for the spot.

Anheuser-Busch is sponsoring tonight's edition of NBC's Saturday Night Live, and the show will air spots from at least three sports bars around the country -- including a viewing party from Chickie's & Pete's on Packer Avenue in South Philly.

Details are mostly under wraps, but the skits (which will not involve the show cast) have a "Bud Light" meeting a "stalk of golden wheat" at a bar, falling in love, and creating a "baby": Budweiser's new Bud Light Golden Wheat beer.

Marisa Magnatta of WMMR's Preston & Steve show will wear a four-foot foam costume as the wheat, and her friend Paul Aspan will portray the Bud.

Magnatta said only her legs will be shown.

Owner Pete Ciarrocchi says he feels honored that Chickie's & Pete's was hosting. It's open to the public.

Crab Fries are ordinary French Fries smothered in gooey cheese and Old Bay Seasoning. To paraphrase the old lady in the commercial used to say, "Whsre's the Crab"? Besides, the owner is a total jadrool!

Saturday Night Live is about as entertaining as a farm subsidy bill debate on C-Span.

They showed the bar for about 4 seconds, that was it. It was so lame. You couldn't even tell it was Chickie's if it didn't say Philadelphia, PA at the bottom of the screen.
