Bar name of the week: Lewinsky's on Clinton

The bar-slash-double entendre - an homage to America's most famous White House intern - opened over the summer in the Delaware Canal town off Route 13.

What do you get when you combine a bawdy sense of humor, a love of presidential history, a long memory and an empty pub space on Clinton Street?

In Delaware City, Del., you get Lewinsky's on Clinton.

The bar-slash-double entendre - an homage to America's most famous White House intern - opened over the summer in the town on the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.

As the News-Journal reports, the owners sell T-shirts and sweatshirts and hold Blue Dress Night Thursdays in reference to a dress onetime intern Monica Lewinsky wore and saved as a souvenir of a sexual encounter with President Bill Clinton. The scandal led to his impeachment in 1998.

The bar's name was going to be Buster Nutt's Pub & Provisions. That name was abandoned as the concept changed to "more upscale," the paper reports, soberly.
