Lehigh Valley soda company A-Treat to be revived

A-Treat, which will be produced under agreement with Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley, will be back on shelves by early fall, David Jaindl said in a news release.

Lehigh Valley folks who grew up with the soda brand A-Treat lost a bit of their past in January, when the Allentown-based company closed after nearly 97 years.

A rumored sale that raised hopes fell through in the interim.

But today, real estate developer/turkey farmer David Jaindl announced that his Jaindl Companies would acquire the A-Treat name, trademark, and flavor formulas from Tom Garvey, the former A-Treat president.

A-Treat, which will be produced under agreement with Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley, will be back on shelves by early fall, Jaindl said in a news release.

A-Treat is known for its distinctive flaviors, including Big Blue (blue raspberry), champagne kola, two kinds of ginger ale, grapefruit, white birch beer, pineapple, and sarsaparilla.

Expect the soda to be sold by Giant Food Stores' Lehigh Valley stores, Redner's Market, Aharts, Tanczos Beverage, and Link Beverage.
