Le Pain Quotidien, the Brussels-rooted bakery-cafe with locations all over New York and Europe, is coming to Philly.

It's the name behind a zoning notice posted at 1423-25 Walnut St., right off the northeast corner of 15th and Walnut and catercorner from Butcher & Singer.

Developer Pearl Properties says this will be the flagship of a new Philly presence.

Hearing will be Sept. 21.

"Hearing will be Sept. 21". - It's disgusting that anyone - particularly a "name" business - has to go through the demeaning ritual of having to plead their case before an unelected, unofficial jury of self-interested "neighbors" who call themselves The Center City Residents Assn. One more Philadelphia "Gotcha!"...

The project has been through CCRA already. The Sept. 21 hearing is with the city zoning board.

Wow, another step for Philly as it enters the 21st century. First and Apple store and now Le Pain Quotidien! Will it take years to open, as did the Apple store? I hope not. Manhattan has had ten stores for a few years now.
