Bulgogi, bibam bop and other Korean staples have come to Chinatown.

New Year's Day marked the soft opening of the Philly branch of Sammy Chon's K-Town BBQ, which replaced HK Golden Phoenix at 911 Race St. (215-574-1778). It's open for lunch and dinner daily; till 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Menu is here. Liquor license is pending. Beer, wines, Korean soju, sake, and cool mixed cocktails will be offered.

There are 80 seats in the main dining room, 20 in a side room. The second floor will be turned into a lounge/happy-hour spot.

The original Sammy Chon's is in Cherry Hill. Chon recently opened an "express" version of the restaurant at the Shoppes at Cinnaminson, next to Game Stop on Route 130.
