Kalas estate on the market

POSTED: Monday, July 6, 2009, 2:04 PM

The Christine Clark Real Estate Team of Long & Foster is selling the house of the late Harry Kalas, which sits in a cul-de-sac bordering Ridley Creek State Park in Upper Providence Township, Delaware County.

Asking price is $625,000.

"It's not anything too pretentious," Clark told me. Though the furnishings will be taken, a bit of Harry the K will remain: The bar in the basement, known as the Kalas Korner, contains stained glass with baseball etchings.

It has two floors of living space, including two full kitchens. The lower floor offers level entries and separate living quarters..

Eileen Kalas, his widow, plans to leave the area.

The Phillies organization should buy it and make it a museum.

definitely not an estate. I've seen his house. I live in the neighborhood. It is actually one of the smallest houses in the whole area there.

many times the most ignorant are the most vocal. Ever go to a Phillies game? An "estate" MIGHT POSSIBLY refer to something left when someone passes away?

Whoever buys the house should do whatever they darn well please. After all,it is their property, not a shrine.

An estate could be listed as a deceased persons leftovers. Hell, there are estate accounts for $5.00. Money does not make or break the term estate. You should be outta here.

Open House on the E-o-leventh of July at 3pm. I need a couple of investors - I plan to turn it into a microbrewery/museum. The name of the beer will be "Way Outta Here!"
