Just announced: Elton John/Billy Joel at Citizens Bank Park

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 1:51 PM

Billy Joel and Elton John's joint tour will stop at Citizens Bank Park at 7 p.m. July 30, while the Phillies are on a West Coast swing.

Philly hosted the piano men's first-ever match-up, in 1994 at the late Veterans Stadium. (So why aren't they playing the Spectrum before its demolition?)

Tix on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through ComcastTIX at 1-800-298-4200, on line at ComcastTIX.com, in person at the Wachovia Center box office or at select Acme Markets.

Press release says the two will open the concert together with a series of duets, playing twin pianos and trading vocals. Each artist will then perform a set with his own band. The grand finale reunites the two at center stage with their supporting musicians for a closing encore.

Not on the press release: Ticket prices are $49.50, $95 and $175.

They were great in their heyday, but that time has passed. Billy Joel cannot sing anymore. Don't know about Elton...Ticket prices are outrageous, too.

Not interested in all of the above. Tack on another $15-20 per for handling fee, convenience fee, turning the lights on, having coffee, etc.

Given the state of the economy, I can't imagine why anyone would spend that much money to see these two aging artists. Heck, just click'em up on YouTube® for free if you want to see them that badly!

BJ & EJ are the bigger act. I saw them the last time they came through and it's a great concert. Their playlist is way longer than the Boss' and both their voices are better too.
