Joe Staszak not renewed at Fox29

The sports producer/anchor is expected to leave in August.

The contract of Fox29 sports reporter/fill-in anchor Joe Staszak expires in August, and the station confirms that he has not been renewed.

When the Berwyn native joined Fox29 in 2008, it was a homecoming.

He started at the station in 2002 as a fill-in sports anchor and Don Tollefson's associate producer for Eagles Game Day Live. He left after two seasons.

His bio includes reporting/producing for PRISM, anchor jobs at WGAL in Lancaster, PA, and KYW, sports producing for WB17, and a sideline reporter for Phantoms hockey, Wings lacrosse and Kixx soccer on Comcast SportsNet.

Staszak and his attorney Lloyd Z. Remick say the position was eliminated.

It's not clear how the station will handle sports on the eve of Eagles season.
