Chef Terry White has surfaced in Avalon, where he'll run the kitchens at the Princeton, along with its side operations Circle Tavern and Center Bar. It opens for the season May 15. White -- one of the founders of Union Trust, whose parting with same was anything but pleasant -- says he'll ramp up the previously underdone raw bar and has ambitious gastropub plans for the food at the Circle. (Added: White is now chef at Tavern on Broad beneath the Bellevue. He will move to Avalon from May through September, and then return to ToB.)

Something odd is going on at 9628 Third Ave. in Stone Harbor, which was a branch of Conshohocken's wildly popular Blackfish last season. But a freshly hoisted sign calls it White Heron Grill. Blackfish's Chip Roman is not talking.

Who's running the kitchen at Tavern on Broad. I thought White was there for a bit.

White is still at ToB. He said he'll move to Avalon for the season and then return.
