Jason Lee let go from 95.7 Ben

The station will go jockless in the middays.

The economy continues to hammer the media business, and now Greater Media has elected to go without DJs in middays on 95.7 Ben FM. Translation: Jason Lee was let go last week, a few months shy of his third anniversary with the pop station that's hitched its marketing wagon to John O'Hurley.

Lee got the midday job last December when Ben divided its morning show three ways -- keeping Marilyn Russell on mornings and assigning Dave Cruise to afternoon drive.

Lee doesn't sound bitter, though it's the first time he's ever been fired. "This is radio. The shame of it is, I actually like the station," he told me. Before landing at Ben, he had spent 12 years at B101.

"I will be back," he vowed.
