In its new Northeast Zone, Instacart's personal shoppers deliver from Whole Foods, BJ's, Fine Wine & Good Spirits and Acme. In other areas in Instacart's Philadelphia zone, it delivers from all of those stores plus Super Fresh and Green Aisle Grocery.

Instacart says it can deliver food and booze within one hour. Its local manager, George Shotz, contends that the shortest order-to-delivery time in Philadelphia so far was 14 minutes and 14 seconds.

Groceries are marked up. The minimum order is $10. Delivery costs $7.99, but drops to $3.99 for orders over $35. New customers get free delivery on their first order of $35 or more. There's also a $99-a-year service that waives the delivery fee on orders of $35 or more.
