Hawthornes starting dinner

And it's planning a beer-themed Valentine's dinner.

Hawthornes starting dinner

Hawthornes, the beer cafe at 11th and Fitzwater Streets in South Philly, starts dinner next week (2/3), running Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Modest-priced menu will include 14 small-plates, spanning the globe: Indian, sushi, American, etc.

Sunday, Feb. 14, Hawthornes will be open only for a candlelit Valentine's beer dinner ($60 a head). All courses will be prepared with beer and paired with four beers, and owner Chris Fetfatzes says they'll tap some 2007 aged Choklat (a stout by Southern Tier made with Godiva chocolate). Dinner will start at 6 and "end when it ends," he said.

Speaking of romance, Fetfatzes and partner Heather Annechiarico got engaged around the restaurant's Thanksgiving opening and plan to elope this summer.
