Chef Guillermo Tellez returns, via Chicago
He's now chef/partner for a restaurant empire that will open a Philadelphia location in Rittenhouse next summer.
Before he arrived in the Philly area to run a restaurant in the western suburbs, chef Guillermo Tellez was Charlie Trotter's go-to guy for 16 years.
Based in Chicago, Tellez was Trotter's chef de cuisine and opened Trotter's C Restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The Windy City connection has gone a long way.
Not too long ago, Tellez left the post of executive chef of the two Kimpton Restaurants in Philadelphia -Square 1682 at Hotel Palomar and Red Owl Tavern at Hotel Monaco.
Now he's landed a major new job with Chicago's Mercadito Hospitality as chef/partner. The company says Tellez will oversee the culinary direction of the group's concepts and growing portfolio:
That includes Mercadito, the posh Mexican restaurant coming to 22d and Chestnut Streets next summer.
